Add text to your coloring pages

The text overlay feature lets you add custom text to any coloring page. Create personalized pages with names, messages, titles, or labels. Text appears as outlined letters that kids can color in.

How to add text

Open any coloring page and click the Edit button. Select Text Overlay from the editing tools.

You can add text two ways:

Click the Add text button to place new text in the center of your image.

Click directly on the image where you want text to appear. A text box appears at that location.

Either method creates a new text element ready for typing.

Editing your text

When you create a text element, it starts in edit mode. Type your message and click elsewhere on the image to finish.

To edit existing text, double-click on it. The text box becomes editable again.

Press Escape or click away to exit edit mode. Empty text boxes are automatically removed.

Moving and resizing text

Click any text element to select it. A dashed pink border appears around the selected text.

To move text, drag it anywhere on the image. The text stays within the image boundaries.

To resize text, drag any corner or edge of the selection box. The font size scales proportionally as you resize, keeping your text looking balanced.

Text controls

When you select a text element, additional options appear in the sidebar:

Font lets you choose from several display fonts designed for coloring pages. Each font previews in its actual style so you can see how it looks before selecting.

Size adjusts the font size directly. You can type a specific number or use the arrows to increase or decrease.

Rotation tilts your text from -180° to 180°. Use the slider to angle text, or click Reset to return to horizontal.

Deleting text

Select a text element and click the red X button in its corner. You can also press the Delete or Backspace key while text is selected.

The Delete button in the sidebar also removes the selected text element.

Working with multiple text elements

Add as many text elements as you need. Each one can have its own font, size, and rotation.

The sidebar shows a count of how many text elements you've added. Click any text on the image to select and edit it.

How the text looks

Text renders as outlined letters with a white fill and black stroke. This creates the perfect coloring page style where each letter can be colored in.

The stroke thickness adjusts automatically based on font size. Larger text gets thicker outlines that are easier to color.

Choosing fonts

Four fonts are available, each with a different personality:

  • SuperFrog works well for playful, kid-friendly pages

  • LoftyGoals is a detailed script font.

  • Octosale offers a bold, attention-grabbing style

  • Pally provides a friendly, rounded appearance

You can set a default font for new text elements, then change individual elements to different fonts as needed.

Saving your work

Click Save to library when you're happy with your text placement. The image with all text elements baked in saves to your coloring page library.

Your original image remains unchanged. The text overlay creates a new version you can download or continue editing.

Tips for better results

Keep it readable. Large, simple text works best for coloring. Avoid cramming too many words into small spaces.

Use rotation sparingly. A slight angle can add visual interest, but heavily rotated text is harder to read and color.

Position thoughtfully. Place text where it won't obscure important parts of the image. Corners and edges often work well.

Preview before saving. Click away from your text to see exactly how it will look. Make sure letters don't overlap awkwardly.

Cost

Text overlay is free to use and available on all plans. You can add as many text elements as you want and save without using any credits.
